The concept of mentoringMentoring (or coaching) can be offered at many different levels, from the practical aspects of day-to-day matters for newcomers to the provision of motivation and inspiration to professionals with an emphasis on career guidance. Mentoring can happen naturally or it can be planned, be short or long term and apply equally to both men and women. The popularity of mentoring results in part from compelling testimonials by people who have themselves benefited from the positive influence of an older person who helped them endure academic or career crises.
